A group of tradition bound Chinese comes to town looking for work, lead by an elderly herbalist. The herbalist's assistant is introduced as his grandson. When a fever starts to pass through the group, Dr. Michaela Quinn discovers that the herbalist's grandson is actually his granddaughter, posing as a man to be able to become an herbalist herself; and Hank tries to run them out of town in fear of an epidemic. Hank even goes so far as to try to burn down their camp, getting himself arrested.
