Reason to Believe

Moment of Truth is the twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth  episodes of Season 5 of Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, the one hundred-seventeenth and one hundred-eighteenth episodes of the series, and the fifth two-part episode.

Cloud Dancing is beaten at the reservation by soldiers. This causes Sully to realize that life on the reservation isn't tolerable for the Indians living there any more, so helps organize an escape for the Indians. To get enough horses, Sully enlists the help of Robert E. and tells Dr. Mike they are just housing them for Robert E. instead of telling her the truth. At the same time, dog soldiers resume their attacks on soldiers and local families.

When blame for the escape lands on Sully, he and Dr. Mike agree that it's best if he disappears for a while until everything calms down.

After the escape, Sully and Cloud Dancing try to get to the Tongue River Valley. When they sees soldiers coming, Sully tries to distract them to give Cloud Dancing a chance to escape. While providing a distraction, Sully gets himself trapped on a ledge with O'Conner. O'Connor wants Sully dead so a fight ensues, until they go over the ledge, resulting in the death of O'Connor before Dr. Mike and Sgt. McKay get there themselves. When they don't see Sully in the river below the ledge, McKay assumes Sully is dead, but Dr. Mike is confident he's alive as he left something on a rock.
