A Matter of Conscience
The Comfort of Friends is the fourth episode of Season 6 of Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman and the one hundred twenty-second episode of the series.
Dr. Mike is worried about Sully while he's up north with Cloud Dancing trying to convince the Cheyenne there to not join Black Moon and his band of dog soldiers. While he's away Dr. Mike learns she's pregnant and is trying to keep it a secret from the town, but word gets out when Dorothy tells Loren the secret. She later miscarries, all before Sully gets back.
Meanwhile, the town plans on making a memorabilia chest and burying it for Founders Day, but argue about what can and can't be put in it. Jake is swayed to do his best to make sure nobody's excluded due to his growing attraction to Teresa Morales.
- Story Arc: The Separation, part 6 of 16. Even though Sully isn't seen in this episode the arc is an integral part of this episode. Dr. Mike will still have emotional trauma months later from her miscarriage in To Have and to Hold.
- Dorothy had two miscarriages, before each of her girls
- Dr. Michaela Quinn - confirmed pregnancy, then later confirmed miscarriage - both with Andrew as her doctor
