What Is Love is the seventeenth episode of Season 3 of Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman and the fifty-eighth episode of the series

The Reverend assigns each student to write a heartfelt, well thought-out essay on "What Is Love?, due on Valentine's Day with no length requirement. Brian watches people to see how they interact, from couples to friends.

Dorothy decides to put on a play, specifically, Romeo and Juliet, for Valentine's Day. She gets people in town to try out for parts, leaving some disappointed with the roles they were cast in.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mike and Sully plan on spending the entire day together, until Sully gets called to Denver for an Indian Affairs meeting on Valentine's Day.
